Lateral Reinstatement Cutters

One of the most critical parts of sewer rehabilitation is the reconnection of the laterals after a sewer pipe has been relined. Depending on the length and location of the relining project, an underground contractor may need to reinstate just a few lateral connections or have a large job of more than 1,000. Proper tooling is a must to make this process go smoothly and quickly.

A lateral cutter that can handle the wear-and-tear of cutting through the sewer pipe liner in a variety of pipes and pipe sizes is crucial to this process. ARIES Raptor lateral cutters are remotely controlled and can be adapted to most ARIES CCTV systems or many competitive systems with very little downtime. ARIES cutters are available for pipe sizes from as small as three inches to as large as 24".

Raptor Reinstatement Cutter

The ARIES Raptor Cutter is the industry’s most reliable portable lateral pipe cutter system to reinstate and remove protruding laterals. It is made of stainless steel and bronze and is mechanically engineered for stable performance in six-to 24-inch lines. A separate grinding head is provided to remove line deposits and protruding taps. Motor sizes include .7, 1 and 1.5 hp. C.O.R.D. (Corporation Reinstatement Device)

ARIES CORD is designed to be used for the following functions as a stand-alone unit or with the ARIES Pathfinder Pan & Tilt Camera System in water pipes during the rehabilitation process:

• Locate water connections (corporations) on the water main being rehabilitated.
• Plug the connections prior to rehabilitation process.
• Locate connections after lining or coating process.
• Precisely open the connection removing the covering liner and plugging materials.
• Close, visual confirmation that corporation is fully opened.

 The CORD offers the following features to facilitate the process:

• Fixed CORD camera and Pan & Tilt Pathfinder camera feed through connection with camera selector for two-camera operation.  

• Three axis cutter head motions for precise corporation location, cutter bit positioning, and reinstatement.
• Electric motor drives eliminate compressed air oil contamination of the lined water main.
