    Preventive Maintenance Pays!

Joe Gierlach - Director, Technical Training & Support TEGG Corporation Pittsburgh, PA

The electrical power we have come to depend on as the life blood of our everyday needs, including manufacturing of mass-produced products, has increasingly become more critical in today’s lean process operations and “just in time” delivery philosophies. What would be the impact of a catastrophic failure of a major component in the electrical distribution system supplying power to an entire processing plant’s production line? Would the operating capital saved by not having a proactive preventive maintenance program in place offset the lost revenue from potential production profits if such a component failure were to occur? This does NOT take into consideration the ramifications of the loss of customer loyalty and satisfaction. Let’s take a look at a recent real life example where this disaster was averted.
